Remember Akilah Richards from execumama.com? Well we’ve teaming up again to bring an exciting new contest. Ever sat down to really think about what you like about yourself? If you’re like me you probably don’t do that too often. It’s so easy for us to dwell on the things we hate about ourselves, but we rarely sit back and think about those things that make us unique. Everyone has at least one thing (probably a lot more) that you like about yourself. It could be your ability to persuade … your writing style … the curve of your hips… your entrepreneurial spirit.. or something as simple as that wrinkle in your nose when you smile. 
It’s time to celebrate YOU. Here’s how the contest will work:
THE CONTEST:
Get your SHINE ON, then tell us about it here. Akilah and I decided to start it off with our own “See me shine” posts. See Akilah’s post here .. and mine here. You can use those as examples or simply follow these steps:
- Make a list of five (5) things you love about yourself.
- Post the five things on your blog or your Facebook wall.
- Upload a photo of yourself. It can be an impromptu picture you snap with your phone, or you can pull out one of your faves from your Facebook page–whatever, just as long as it’s a picture of you, unmasked and unabashed.
- Comment on this post with a link* to your own See Me Shine post if you’re a blogger, link to your Facebook wall post if you don’t blog, or email me your list and your photo and I’ll put it up on my blog.
*It will be made public, because that’s the point of it. We’re not feelin’ the “secret shine” thing, so if you’re not shining on some all-the-way-turned-up type vibe, take a deep breath, and CHANGE THAT.

Five things I like about myself:
1. My ability to forgive those who have hurt me.
2. I’m honest
3. I’m generous, and I love doing things that cheer others up or make them happy.
4. I love my family and though I am not a “perfect” mom/wife, I love my children, grandchildren and husband unconditionally.
5. I love the fact that my walk with God is genuine and not hypocritical. “I am who I am by the grace of God.”
